Designed for Preschool - Year 6
Our Marvellous Minibeasts incursions have been so popular we've had to give them their own website, to find out more, please visit www.minibeastincursions.com.au
Your students will be buzzing after this very hands-on minibeast incursion
After a short role-play detailing minibeast features, adaptations and amazing facts, students split into 5 rotation groups.
Each group rotates through our Bugtopia Tent, where they handle and feed a selection of minibeasts including stick insects, butterflies, giant litter bugs, yabbies and more. When not in the bug tent, students continue their minibeast discovery at different stations. At these stations, students catch aquatic minibeasts, view bugs up close with microscopes and design their own version of bug features and adaptations through open-ended tasks.
We utilise students’ natural curiosity to drive discovery learning, as well as a range of teaching techniques to ensure maximum engagement, participation and interaction.
The Biological Science curriculum covered in this incursion focusses on how living things grow and change, their features, adaptations and role in food chains. Please let us know when booking the incursion if there is a particular focus that you would like us to cover.
This is also perfect for sustainability units investigating biodiversity.
Free pre- and post-incursion lesson plans are included in your booking, including a task for assessment.
