Designed for Kinder – Year 6
Our Toys incursions have been so popular we've had to give them their own website, to find out more, please visit www.toyincursions.com.au
Mention toys and kids’ eyes immediately light up! What most children never consider however, is just how much science makes them work.
Join us on an investigation of toys, their history and the science behind how they function. We bring a heap of different toys with us, setting them up in stations depending on their design. Students rotate through in groups, playing, exploring and reporting their discoveries back to the class.
After that, it is time to get creative! In the 1900s there was a toy more popular than fidget spinners and pokemon – we teach students how to make them and of course, the science behind how they work. This is a very rich incursion as it includes history, art and science. The making of the toy can also be an open-ended task.
We utilise students’ natural curiosity to drive discovery learning, a range of teaching techniques and a technology component to ensure maximum engagement, participation and interaction.
The Physical Sciences curriculum covered in this incursion focusses on how objects move or change shape through push and pull and how light is sensed. We also cover the cross-curricular subjects of History and Art.
We are able to tailor this incursion to your needs, please discuss this with us when you book.
Free pre- and post-incursion lesson plans are included in your booking, including a task for assessment.
